Business Communication Support’s five keys for persuasive business writing:
Structure the writing to keep readers engaged. The best stories pull readers in and draw them to the next sentence, the next paragraph, and the next page. Business writing should have this same flow.
Don’t let extra words and complex sentences hide the message. Every word and phrase must serve a purpose. More and longer are not better.
Write with the reader in mind. Use a style that will resonate with your target audience. Picture yourself as a skeptical reader and see if the material intrigues you or turns you off.
Don’t distract readers with bad grammar, poor word choices, misspellings, and typos. These mistakes hurt your credibility and ruin the image you're trying to create.
Make your primary message the reader’s primary take-away. Lead the reader to an inescapable conclusion.
